I got drunk and it's no excuse.

Updated: May 23

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

You're expecting a punchline drenched in alcohol abuse

Sprinkled with debauchery and trust misuse

Don't worry, I'll hand you the clues

that I got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

on a Saturday night for the first time

Quite normal for a college student yet, it feels like a crime

Conscious awoke, it wants to drop the dime

that I got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

Blame me for I bought the booze

Scarred, I wish it was just a bruise

This is what happens acting on a whim when I should refuse

Yeah I got drunk and it's still no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

My friend suggested to hook me up with her friend

Out of pure intentions but it ain't something you recommend

to a friend already involved... Well, to an extent

Here comes the beginning of the end

Yeah I got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

My friend's friend is super cute

Facial features, super astute

Yet not her only striking attribute

curvatures on fleek, no room for dispute

Lips so soft, taste like sweetened fruit

Yeah, we kissed and it felt sublime

This happened when I got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

She was into me, I was into her

I wish I could say it all happened in a blur

I wasn't drunk, words didn't slur

I jumped into things, so connoisseur

of the re-precautions that would later occur

This happened when I got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

I motioned her to lie next to me in bed

Should've seen the red flags instead

She obliged and on my shoulder rested her head

We flirted, her friends bore witness to the things we said

We made out, her friends bore witness to my decency's end

This grade-A A-hole got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

We took things to her room, clothes stayed on

Even though she had no roommate, we were alone

An entangled heap of beautiful mass, ain't that oxymoron!

At that point, my inhibitions were far gone

Thoughts of you were lost, I'm such a moron!

That wasn't supposed to happen, I should've withdrawn

This grade-A A-hole got drunk and it's no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

Come next morning, woke up in bed alone

shit-faced hungover, fully out of the zone

my fling's whereabouts completely unknown

I moan, groan, flip out of bed looking for my phone

self-respect overblown, all-time-low milestone,

A bottomless well of sins to atone, nothing left to condone

I carry my sorry self back to my room devoid of a backbone.

This happened after I got drunk and it's still no excuse.

I got drunk and it's no excuse,

I broke your trust, where does that leave me?

I broke my principals, how about that for hypocrisy?

I broke myself, ain't that self-inflicted misery?

I broke the bottles, what a mockery...

No, I didn't break the bottles

No, I don't wish I did

Yes, I imagine strangling my throttle

Yes, this truth I hid

My mirror reflection's looking straight back me

It said FUCK YOU, you got drunk and it's no damn excuse.
